Louie's Bread Recipe

This was my great grandma's recipe.  For a long time no one knew the recipe because she measured everything in pinches and handfulls.  So one day, my great aunt went over to her house and measured her pinches and handfulls.  This is what she came up with.

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons yeast

1/2 Cup water

1 Cup wesson oil

1 3/4 Tablespoons sugar

1 3/4 Tablespoons salt

1 quart warm water

1 Cup powdered milk

11 Cups flour

Directions:     In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/2 Cup water.  While yeast is working, mix wesson oil, sugar, salt, and powdered milk.  Add yeast.  Add 6 Cups of flour, and beat until very smooth.  Add 5 more cups of flour, and kneed for about 10 minutes.  Don't make dough too stiff.  Grease a large bowl, and let rise in bowl for 1 hour.  Punch down.  Let rise 30-45 minutes longer.  Put in loaf pans, and let rise again.  Bake at 350 degrees for 32-33 minutes.

Makes 6 loaves
